Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by muscle, joint and tendon (the part of the muscle that attaches to bone) pain. Other symptoms associated with this are Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, difficulty sleeping, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Temperomandibular Joint (jaw) Dysfunction.

There are no conventional positive findings on lab tests or x-rays. The diagnosis is usually made by the finding of 11 out of 18 possible tender points on the body and by the exclusion of other possible diagnoses. There is currently no known cause for fibromyalgia. That's the bad news.

The good news is that there is treatment available that has been very successful and does not include using strong medications such as Elavil and Prozac.

Biochemical Imbalances

An initial diagnostic assessment of structural and biochemical imbalances is made. Treatment consists of a combination of techniques that release pressure on the nerves that go to the sore muscles, food allergy testing followed by diet adjustments to eliminate hidden causes of toxicity and the prescription of natural medicines such as herbs, nutrients and homeopathics.

Every patient responds a little differently, so follow-up testing is done to establish the efficacy of the treatment for each patient. This approach has proven much more successful than the drug therapy, stress reduction and exercise programs currently in use.

You don't have to live with the debilitating repercussions of fibromyalgia if you are willing to take an in-depth look at your individual biochemistry and make the appropriate changes necessary both structurally and chemically.
